AaloEmergency Disaster Response
Alo, meaning ‘light’ in English, is Spreeha’s emergency disaster response program that helps rebuild the lives of the people and communities affected by disasters through the provision of healthcare, education, relief materials, and counselling. Currently, we are focusing on three projects: Rohingya response, COVID – 19 response and Cyclone Amphan response.
Rohingya Response
Spreeha was one of the early responders to take emergency healthcare and relief materials to Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya. To rebuild the lives of the Rohingya refugees, the project gradually included provision of healthcare, education, relief materials, and counselling within the camps.

Covid-19 Response
As the Covid-19 pandemic spread to Bangladesh, Spreeha immediately identified potential changes in community people’s livelihood, their issue of safety, need for increased awareness, and access to healthcare and basic needs. To address the challenges, Spreeha started a series of programs focusing on emergency relief, healthcare, education, and safety.

Cyclone Amphan Response
Super Cyclone Amphan left behind a trail of destruction in the Bangladesh’s coastal areas. Among many areas, Satkhira’s Shyamnagar Upazilla is one of the hard hit one. A lot of infrastructure like schools, bridges, culverts, roads got severely damaged. One of Spreeha’s partner schools, Katthalbaria A.G. High School, got swept away as a result of the super cyclone. Spreeha is currently working with the school authorities and the community on relief work.
